Daniel Asfaw

Daniel Asfaw is a senior data analyst at the Partnered Evidence-Based Policy Resource Center (PEPReC) at VA Boston Healthcare System. He is also a post-doctoral associate in the Department of Health Law, Policy and Management at the Boston University School of Public Health. His current research focuses on developing econometric models and methods that can be used to conduct policy-relevant estimation and inference, and includes correcting endogeneity bias in two-part models and utilizing observed pre-treatment covariates to improve the bias and efficiency of a staggered policy effect estimator in a difference-in-differences design. Dr. Asfaw is also interested in applied health policy and management research such as examining racial/ethnic disparity in health care access and evaluating the effect of federal and state-level policies on health care access and health outcomes. He received his Ph.D. degree in Economics with a concentration in Health Economics and Applied Econometrics from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in May 2021.
