Kathleen Carey

.Kathleen Carey, a health economist, is a professor in the Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management at the Boston University School of Public Health and a senior investigator for the Partnered Evidence-based Policy Resource Center (PEPReC) at the Department of Veterans Affairs, located at the VA Boston Healthcare System. Her scholarship addresses the economics, organization, and regulation of the U.S. health care system, with a focus on efficient delivery of care in the hospital, ambulatory surgery, and community health center sectors. Dr. Carey is a member of the Massachusetts Public Health Council where she holds the governor-appointed seat representing the Massachusetts Coalition for the Prevention of Medical Errors. Dr. Carey also serves as Associate Editor of Medical Care Research and Review and is a member of the board of directors of the National Business and Economics Society. She is a past standing member of the Health Systems and Value Research Scientific Review Committee at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and has served on numerous other national and international review committees. Dr. Carey received her Ph.D. in Economics at Boston University and holds an M.A.T. from Harvard University.
